For many people, a big part of Christmas are the classic Christmas carols like Deck the Halls, The First Noel and O Come All Ye Faithful.
Hearing them live, and getting to sing along too, is a joyful experience so we’ve rounded up some places where you can enjoy Christmas carols.

Carols By Candlelight and Other Festive Carol Concerts
Carols by Candlelight at Fota House
Get the season off on the right note with Cappella Lyrica on Sunday 1st December at Fota House. Immerse yourself in the beautiful sounds of this award winning choir in the resplendent surrounds of the magnificent Drawing Room.
Their annual Christmas music celebration will include seasonal favourites by Daniel Elder, Stephen Hatfield, Morten Lauridsen, Michael McGlynn and John Rutter and feature Britten’s Ceremony of Carols with Harpist, Anne-Marie Papin Labazordiere This is a concert for music lovers of all ages!
Cappella Lyrica is an award-winning, equal-voice choir comprised of full-time students of the CIT Cork School of Music. In competitive performances the choir has been awarded First Prize at the Cork International Choral Festival, the City of Derry International Choral Festival and at the Limerick Church Music Festival.
The concert takes place Sunday 1st December, 18:30, doors 18:00. Tickets €20 include parking, complimentary glass of wine/soft drink and a mince pie on arrival! Book online now at www.fotahouse.com. Choirs for Christmas with the Irish Chamber Orchestra
Sunday 1st December, 5pm – University Concert Hall, Limerick
2019 marks the 20th birthday of RTÉ Lyric FM. For the last 20 years, the Limerick-based station has run the Choirs for Christmas competition in celebration of choral singing in Ireland, and this concert is all about the power of community music-making nationally and the power of singing!
The incredible Irish Chamber Orchestra leads the celebrations with festive flare! Featuring the ICO, New Dublin Voices, UCD Choral Scholars, Ardu, Canette, Carrickfergus Grammar School Choir, St Joseph’s Primary School Tipperary Town.

2019 Christmas at the Cathedral – A Festival of Bells
Saturday 7th December, 8pm – St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral
Cork International Choral Festival is proud to present A Festival of Bells, an evening with acclaimed soprano Fiona O’Reilly and tenor Dan Twomey with festive carols, songs and poetry in the stunning surrounds of St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral.
Also featuring CADA Performing Arts, Carrigaline Gospel Choir, Cór Scoil Oilibhéir, Gaudete Choir Rochestown, Music Mash Up Hip Hop Choir.

Dublin Concert Band Family Christmas Concert
Sunday 8th December, 5-6.30pm – St Mary’s Church, Howth Road, Howth
A perfect musical Christmas family afternoon complete with carols, jazz and classical arrangements of Christmas timeless classics! Kick off the Christmas season for the whole family with the most entertaining selection of pieces, performed by the acclaimed All Ireland multiple Band Champions: Dublin Concert Band.
This yearly pit stop in the beautiful setting and marvellous acoustics of St Mary’s Church has always provided the Band with a full house audience of all generations as DCB encourages families to bring their children (under-12s) for free to let them experience the thrill of live music.

Annual Defence Forces Carol Service
Wednesday 11th December, 8pm – Arbour Hill Church, Stoneybatter, Dublin 7
The 2019 Annual Defence Forces Carol Service takes place at Arbour Hill Church on Wednesday 11 December. This is a free event and all are welcome. Free parking at the National Museum opposite Arbour Hill.
This year the Chaplaincy Service, along with the Army No1 Band and the Pipes and Drums are delighted to be joined by Plurabelles, conducted by Aine Mulvey. Retiring collection to be donated to FOCUS IRELAND.

A Crafty Little Christmas Carols Session at NMI Country Life
Friday 13th December, 1-2.30pm – NMI Country Life, Turloughmore, Co. Mayo
Get in the Christmas spirit, put on that Santa hat and join the Foxford National School Band for the annual Christmas carol sing-along with all the favourites, Frosty the Snowman, Silent Night and many more. No booking required.
The Knights Before Christmas Concert, Galway
Saturday 14th December, 7:45-10 pm – Galway Cathedral
The A Capella Knights will return this year for their fifth annual Christmas concert, ‘The Knights Before Christmas’ at Galway Cathedral. The Christmas concert will celebrate the festive season through a wide variety of festive music, dance and instrumentals – something for everyone to enjoy!
The A Capella Knights will be joined by special guests Skehana Folk Group, The Frenchville Brass Ensemble, The Hession School of Dance and Galway Simon’s very own Music Project to bring everyone a bit of Christmas spirit and cheer. The funds raised this year will be allocated to Galway Simon’s Health and Well-being services.

DMEP Christmas Concert with Donegal Youth Orchestra
Sunday 15th December, 5pm – An Grianan Theatre, Letterkenny
Join the Donegal Youth Orchestra (conductor: Vincent Kennedy) and the Donegal Youth Choir (conductor: Sara Laughlin) for a gala concert, full of festive cheer and sparkle, music and song.
Also appearing are Dungloe Junior Choir, Letterkenny Junior Choir and special guests. Join in with the carols at the grand finale! Presented by the Donegal Music Education Partnership.

Twinkle, Twinkle, Christmas Star with Dublin Youth Junior Choir

Classics at Christmas, Mullingar
Thursday 19th December, 7.30-9.30pm – All Saints Church, Mullingar
A festive evening of Christmas music, from classical to contemporary, jazz to pop and of course some traditional carols!
