The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a Classic

The Very Hungry Caterpillar story is much beloved, having sold 50 million copies worldwide and been translated into 62 languages.

Since The Very Hungry Caterpillar was published in 1969, Eric Carle has also illustrated more than seventy books, many best sellers, most of which he also wrote.

He and his late wife Barbara also established the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art which you can visit in Amherst, Massachusetts. The museum showcases illustrations from across the globe and aims to  to inspire a love of art and reading through picture books.
