Donegal Town Playground

Mum Imelda recommends the playground in Donegal Town which is set behind the castle and near the St John Bosco Cente and the old Donegal Railway track.

Separated into 2 sections, there’s one for younger children with a climbing frame, swings, round-about and sit on rocking toys. Then for older children there is a zip-wire, basket swings, climbing frame with an enclosed slide, wooden adventure frame and more.

You’ll find parking near the playground and entry is free.

Community Park, Gweedore

This community playground has a toddler and preschool area, including swings, see-saws, climbing nets and more. There are benches for parents or picnics, and also a short nature walk around the park suitable for prams.

Ballymacool Park, Letterkenny

This large modern playground, situated in the 20 acre grounds of Ballymacool House, offers great play equipment for toddlers, preschoolers and older children. The equipment is well spaced out, making it very spacious on those busier days!

The play area itself, is totally enclosed, dogs are not permitted in the area and it is also a No-Smoke zone. There are seats all the way around the perimeter and there is a toilet block situated close by. In a separate enclosed area there is a multi-use games area, suitable for older children.

Mall Park, Ballyshannon

Situated in an area of high scenic beauty overlooking Erne Estuary, this playground is a safe play facility for children up to the age of 12 and easily accessed from all areas of the town.

Tory Island

Tory Island is a picturesque place to visit, and an opportunity to experience something unique.

The playground here is large and colourful, with plenty of equipment to keep all ages engaged and active.

Ballybofey & Stranorlar

Good sized, enclosed modern play area including a great wooden play equipment. Suitable for toddlers to twelve year olds. Parent seating available.

Ballyliffin

Located beside the stunning Pollan beach, you’ll find this revamped, eco-friendly children’s play area. Complete with wooden climbing walls, play-houses, swings and plenty more, this playground is ideal for children under 12.

Bernard McGlinchey Park, Letterkenny

There are two playgrounds in Bernard McGlinchey Park. There is a toddler playground near the entrance to the park, and there is another play area suitable for older children further into the park with a zip wire, swings and steep, bending slides.

There is a small carpark at the park but it is usually full, and while there are other carparks close by, they do charge for parking. Toilets are located at the park entrance.

Festival Park, Buncrana

Buncrana’s Festival Park is beside the shore greens and just 5 minutes walk from Buncrana town centre, beside Buncrana’s Light House and Leisure Centre.

The large, modern playground has plenty of bright and colourful equipment to engage children from toddlers to age 12.

Tamney

The small village of Tamney on the Fanad Peninsula offers a modern, colourful and safe playground with lots of equipment to keep the kids active. Suitable for toddlers to age 12.
