It’s All Change in Toy Story 4 – Watch the First Full Trailer Here!

Disney Pixar’s first full-length trailer for Toy Story 4 opens with Woody introducing new character Forky to the rest of the gang – and from there, it’s clear this instalment is going to shake things up for our favourite toys.

Several years had passed since the last Toy Story film, and fans will remember that Andy, now grown up and off to college, had passed Woody, Buzz and the rest of the toys on to a little girl called Bonnie. Toy Story 4 picks up the story from there.

Toy Story 4: The Story

So where are the toys now? Busy welcoming new arrivals to Bonnie’s room – including a curious new character named Forky.

Forky (voiced by comedian Tony Hale) is a plastic spork-turned-craft-project with pipe cleaner arms, and he’s pretty sure he doesn’t belong in Bonnie’s room. Unfortunately, every time he tries to get away, someone yanks him back into an adventure he’d rather skip!

Woody has always been confident about his place in the world, and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. So when Bonnie’s beloved new Forky declares himself “trash” rather than a toy, Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. But when Bonnie takes the whole gang on her family’s road trip, Woody ends up on an unexpected detour that includes a reunion with his long-lost friend Bo Peep.

After years on her own, Bo’s adventurous spirit and life on the road contrast sharply with her delicate porcelain exterior. As Woody and Bo realise just how far apart their lives as toys have grown, they soon discover that’s the least of their worries.

New Characters

In addition to Forky and the return of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack and all our Toy Story favourites, the film also introduces new characters voiced by Keanu Reeves, Christina Hendricks and Ally Maki.

Gabby Gabby (voiced by Hendricks) is an adorable, talking pull-string doll from the 1950s. Unfortunately for her, a manufacturing defect in her pull-string voice box has left her sounding anything but adorable. She’s spent more than 60 years forgotten in the depths of a jam-packed antique store, her only companions a band of voiceless ventriloquist dummies. Gabby Gabby is convinced someone will want her, if only she can find a working voice box to replace her own.

Reeves lends his voice to Duke Caboom, a 1970s toy based on Canada’s greatest stuntman. Riding his powerful Caboom stunt-cycle, Duke is always ready to show off his stunt poses with confidence and swagger. However, Woody soon learns that Duke has an Achilles heel: he’s never actually been able to pull off the stunts advertised in his own toy commercial. For years, Duke has sat in an antique store, reliving the failures of his tragic past.

Also introduced in the trailer is Benson, a classic antique ventriloquist dummy and Gabby Gabby’s right hand. He leads a small group of ventriloquist dummies who serve as Gabby’s henchmen, patrolling the antique store.

If the trailer is anything to go by, Toy Story 4 will probably make you cry – especially given it was billed as the last film in the Toy Story franchise. Take a look for yourself below:
