#1. Eurocamp La Chapelle, Languedoc, France
Mum Josephine told us her family stayed at La Chapelle in Argelès-sur-Mer in the Languedoc region of France, in the foothills of the Pyrénées. “An amazing campsite with fantastic facilities for kids, including a kids’ club and six pools with two waterslides.”
They loved it so much they’ve been back twice, with a third visit under discussion. Everything you need is within walking distance, so there’s no need for a car once you arrive.

#2. Escale St-Gilles, Bénodet, Brittany, France
Mum Orla rented a mobile home at the Escale St-Gilles luxury campsite in Brittany and says it delivers a five-star experience the whole family enjoyed. Accommodation ranges from two and three-bedroom mobile homes to sun lodges and serviced pitches for those who prefer to camp.
There’s a waterpark, a spa for the grown-ups, restaurant and takeaway food options, and a full programme of activities for every member of the family.

#3. KelAir Le Clarys Plage Campotel, Vendée Region, France
Dad John and Mum Alison both recommended Le Clarys Plage Campotel as the perfect place to visit with kids in France. There are plenty of on-site facilities, including pools and a waterslide, but the campsite is also well placed for exploring the French countryside, nearby towns, and even a day out at the Puy du Fou theme park.
The site is within walking distance of Plage des Mouettes beach, and you can hire a bike locally to explore the coastline along the network of cycle tracks.

Mum Siobhan travelled to La Croix du Vieux Pont campsite with four adults, two teens and two tweens. Accommodation options include mobile homes, chalets, pitches for tents and camper vans, and even tree houses. It’s a well-equipped, spacious site with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts, table tennis, boules, restaurants and takeaways, fishing and swimming lakes, playgrounds, a kids’ go-kart track, pedaloes and plenty more sports and activities. There’s also an on-site beauty salon and gym for parents who fancy some pampering, plus kids’ clubs to keep the children entertained.
Paris is only around 90 minutes away, making it a great base for a day trip into the capital — or a visit to Disneyland Paris.

#5. Tohapi Domaine de Léveno Campsite, Pays de la Loire, France
Jean recommended the Domaine de Léveno Tohapi campsite in the Loire region, praising it as great for kids thanks to an on-site waterpark with waterslides, a tennis court, gym, games room and mini-golf course — plus a spa for parents to enjoy.
You can also arrange fresh bread delivery each morning, hire a barbecue, or make use of the take-away and restaurant facilities on site.

#6. Camping Sol à Gogo, St Hilaire, France
Mum Michelle told us her family loved the small campsite Sol à Gogo, which offers mobile homes by the beach with everything you need for a great holiday. It’s a good choice for groups, as the site can arrange mobile homes right next to each other.
There are indoor and outdoor swimming pools with fun water slides, and the site is right on the beach. Cycle routes lead to two nearby towns, St Jean de Monts and St Gilles Croix de Vie, both offering excellent restaurants and a genuine taste of French life.

Dad Damien and Mum Niamh say that for something a little different, it’s worth trying one of the Huttopia campsites or villages dotted around France. You can choose a setting by the sea, in a forest, in the mountains or out in the countryside. On-site facilities include kids’ clubs, food service, swimming pools, lakes or lagoons, family activities and a linen and towel service.

#8. Eurocamp at La Garangeoire, Southern Vendée, France
Mum Rebecca says Eurocamp at La Garangeoire is an ideal family resort for a wide spread of ages. She’s returned several years running with children aged 7 to 17, and says everyone has always been well catered for.
Set in the grounds of a beautiful old château, the resort offers two and three-bedroom chalets alongside camping pitches. There’s a good range of pools and waterslides to suit all ages, plus plenty of on-site activities to keep the whole family active.

#9. Le Bois Masson Resort, Vendée Region, France
Mum Tara tells us her family drives to France each year to stay at Le Bois Masson Siblu Resort in the Vendée region, which offers plenty for kids — indoor and outdoor swimming pools, restaurants, shops, a playground and a kids’ club catering for ages 1 to 14.
