They also have 12 suites available with separate rooms for parents and kids, and you’ll have all the equipment on hand for babies, toddlers and older kids from high chairs to nappies to bicycles for smaller and bigger kids.

And if you get bored at the resort, one of Spain’s biggest theme parks, Terra Mitica is only 3 minutes drive away, while Terra Natura (zoo with 1,500 animals) and Aqua Natura (water park with slides, rides and wave pools) are within a five-minute drive too.

The Colle San Paolo estate in Umbria comprises 3 farmhouses restored to a high spec into 12 apartments and cottages available to rent. The location of the estate puts it in striking distance to visit many of the sights of Umbria on easy day trips, e.g. Assisi, Orvieto and Perugia (one of my favourite places in Italy).

The apartments are well-furnished and well equipped. Outside there are open safe areas for little people to run around and plenty of activities for older kids and teens to choose from.

The bilingual owners are happy to help organise trips and activities from, cycling to cooking, to make your stay fun. WIFI is free and available in all apartments. Each farmhouse has a pool (all unheated).

There are also International summer day camps in English for children 6 to 12 with a choice of art & culture or soccer as their focus with a fun Italian lesson in the afternoon. Entertaining for the children, and relaxing for their parents!

There are nature walks, biking and hiking within the estate and in the area. There’s no restaurant on site but you can arrange breakfast or even a private chef, otherwise it’s a 10 minute drive to the nearest grocery store to pick up all your supplies.

Located 30 minutes from Nice Airport, the Club Med Opio en Provence has a focus on family fun and sports with a 9-hole golf course, pools, tennis courts as well as a Spa for a bit of pampering. The resort’s Provençal-style architecture is laid out in a traditional setting with narrow streets and shady squares. Rooms are decorated in warm earthy tones.

There are 3 pools at the resort: the main pool has low sides making it easier for kids to climb in and out. There’s also a separate children’s pool with a slide and a quiet adults-only pool if you want some time away from the children.

For children of all ages there’s plenty on offer:

The Amfora Hvar Grand Beach Resort is tucked away in a tranquil bay, surrounded by a lush pine grove, and is only a short ten minute walk from the historic UNESCO Old Town of Hvar with its medieval walls and plenty to see and do.

Highlights of the port town Hvar include its 13th-century walls, a hilltop fortress and a main square anchored by the Renaissance-era Hvar Cathedral. The island also features beaches like Dubovica and inland lavender fields. Boat excursions serve the nearby islands, which have secluded beaches and coves.
