If someone told you David Beckham spends his downtime building LEGO, you might not believe it — but the football legend and dad-of-four is a genuine LEGO enthusiast. A few years back, his Instagram feed showed him taking on one of his biggest builds yet: 4,000 pieces later, he’d completed the LEGO Disney Castle for his princess-mad daughter, Harper.

Beckham shared a photo of himself surrounded by all 4,080 pieces of the LEGO Disney Castle set, captioned: “Page 1 of the Disney castle, 4000 pieces 490 pages of instructions I look confused but I’m so excited.”

Days later, he posted a photo of the finished castle, captioned: “1am done… Someone’s gonna have a nice surprise in the morning 👸 zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ❤️”
This wasn’t Beckham’s first big LEGO project. He’s previously spoken about how building LEGO helps him unwind, describing it as something that “helps to calm me down.” One of his other major builds was the LEGO Tower Bridge set, a hefty 4,287-piece challenge.
Even earlier, he tackled the LEGO Taj Mahal, a set with a staggering 5,922 pieces — and talked fans through the build during a live webchat. That kind of star power is a good reminder of how a big brick project can capture people’s imagination, LEGO fans included.

LEGO Sets for Adults
If Beckham’s castle build has you tempted to try a big LEGO project of your own, the LEGO Architecture range is a great place to start. It covers iconic buildings from around the world, so there’s plenty of choice for a display piece you’ll be proud to keep out.
There’s also a range of adult-focused LEGO building sets covering more elaborate projects — think moving mechanisms like a carousel, or classic vehicles like a VW camper van. A rotating Ferris wheel build is a particular favourite for anyone who wants a bit of movement in their finished model.
