Dressing up doesn’t always mean costumes and dress-up boxes — sometimes it’s simply about clothes that make getting dressed feel a bit special. That’s exactly what Cos brought to children’s fashion when it launched its Cos Kids collection, giving parents a high-street option with a distinctly grown-up sense of style.
Cos is owned by H&M, another parent favourite, so there was plenty of interest in how a Cos take on kidswear would turn out.

A proper kids’ collection, not just a scaled-down adult range
Before Cos Kids launched properly, Cos had offered a small selection of baby and toddler pieces in sizes 0–4 years. The dedicated Cos Kids collection expanded this significantly, with sizing running up to age 10.
What stood out was how much the collection avoided the usual character prints, emoji graphics, or styles that looked more suited to teens than younger children. Instead, it leaned on the same block prints, soft fabrics, and neutral colour palette that made the adult Cos ranges so popular.

Mix-and-match pieces built to last
A lot of the appeal came from how well pieces mixed and matched with each other. Prices sat higher than typical high-street kidswear, but the versatility of the pieces — and the fact they were designed to be worn well beyond one season — made the case for the investment.
The boiled wool block coat was a particular standout, the kind of piece that had more than a few parents wishing it came in adult sizing too.

According to Cos, the dresses and tops in the range came “in an array of bright and understated colours,” crafted in “simple, A-line silhouettes with voluminous sleeves and flared skirts adding playful detail.”
The boyswear side of the collection was described as featuring “modern pieces, designed for the everyday,” with “playful prints and splashes of bold colour” updating classic staples.

These were clothes designed to wear well over time, made from a mix of cotton, jersey and corduroy — practical fabrics dressed up with a more considered design approach than most high-street kidswear at the time.
Shortly after the main Cos Kids launch, Cos also introduced a babywear range for newborns up to 12 months, adding babygrows, knitwear and blankets to the collection — again in unisex, neutral-toned pieces using natural materials such as soft merino wool, cashmere and organic cotton. It made for a thoughtful option for new baby gifts as well as everyday staples.

There’s no doubt the Cos Kids collection landed as a cool, minimalist, classic-leaning range — exactly the sort of clothing that doesn’t date quickly and can happily be handed down between siblings.
