It can be tricky to think of birthday gift ideas for tweens as they are at the in-between age where some may have outgrown their toys but are too young for teen gifts. With 2 tweens in the house here are my suggestions for 15 Quirky Birthday Gift Ideas for Tween that Aren’t Money.

#1. Photos
While having loads of photos (1,365 in my tween’s case) saved on their phone or tablet to look back at, it is great fun to print out images and share them with friends.
A cost effective way to do this is to look out for deals on photobooks or canvas prints, Groupon and Living Social often have them, and either pick one image to get printed on canvas or add as many as you wish to a photobook to surprise your tween with. It can be time consuming but the results are amazing.
Or, if you fancy having individual photos you could use an app like Foto Store to print out the images and have them delivered to your door.
Alternatively consider purchasing a camera that prints images out instantly. Good options include the Fuji Instax Mini 8, the Polaroid Snap range or a photo printer like the Polaroid Zip instant photo printer.
#2. Bean Bag
A giant bean bag or a bean bag chair that they can have in their room or the den is a cool birthday idea for tweens. They love having their own slouch chair and large bean bags are perfect for when friends come to visit. It’s worth looking out for deals on Living Social and Groupon who often run offers on bean bags.
#3. Subscription to a Favourite Magazine
If your tween spends pocket money each week on a magazine, consider purchasing a subscription to it as a birthday gift. It will be delivered to the door and will often arrive before it is available in the shops!
#4. Lego
I don’t know a tween who doesn’t like Lego. There is so much choice available these days from Lego Friends sets to Robotic Lego to Architecture to Technic and Creator and much more besides.
Starting a Lego collection gives you options for gifts for Christmas and other special occasions too. And when asked by relatives what your tween would like, you can give them an easy list to pick from, making you very popular indeed!
#5. Personalised Gifts
Never lose anything again by getting your tween’s name printed on it…. well that’s the theory anyway not so sure it always works in practice! Joking aside there are some awesome personalised gifts to be had including footballs, rugby balls, tops, bags, rugs and more.
Check out options from Etsy and Not On The High Street and IWOOT – I Want One of Those
#6. Games
Whatever your tween says to the contrary, most still like a great game for when friends come over or that you can play together as a family. Popular choices in our house include:
and old favourites like Trival Pursuit, Monopoly and Game of Life.
#7. An Experience
From a kayaking or horse riding lesson to a day out with friends at the theme park or water park, giving your tween an experience as a birthday gift will earn you parent bonus points!
Look out for experience deals on Groupon and Living Social.
