1. Glencar Hill Walk
The Glencar Hill Walk follows the shores of Glencar Lake and the spectacular Glencar Waterfall towards Dooneens. There’s a climb to get going, but this easy-to-moderate walk rewards you with incredible views over Sligo Bay, Knocknarea, Truskmore, Leanne, the Leitrim hills and Glencar Lake and Valley.

Starting in the village of Drumshanbo, this is an easy 3km looped walk suitable for all the family, making it a good choice if you have younger children or want something gentler.
3. Fowleys Falls in Rossinver
Fowleys Falls has a trail that’s perfect for pre-schoolers. It’s not too long, yet it feels like you’re a million miles from anywhere. The trail runs close to the river and falls, and there are picnic tables at one end — ideal for a break with little ones.
4. Carrick on Shannon Slí Walking Route
An easy riverside route in Carrick-on-Shannon, this 5.5km walk starts near the bridge, opposite the remains of Carrickdrumruske Castle, and follows the river along parts of the trail.
5. Glenfarne Forest Walk
Enjoy fantastic views of Lough MacNean across to Fermanagh on this two-hour ramble through Glenfarne Forest, part of the Glenfarne Demesne. Along the way you can follow part of the MacNean Sculpture Trail, learn about the history of the Tottenham Estate, and visit Ladies Rest, where ladies from the Great Hall once came to bathe and relax. The walk is on forest paths and tracks, self-guided, with a choice of three varied circular signposted routes.
6. Acres Lake Boardwalk
Acres Lake Boardwalk is Ireland’s first floating boardwalk. This 600m boardwalk, in the picturesque village of Drumshanbo, marks the start of a 6.5km linear walking and cycling trail along the Shannon Blueway, running from Acres Lake to Battlebridge Lock near Leitrim Village.
7. Drumleague Lock Loop Walk
This 5km loop starts at Battlebridge Lock and follows the canal to Drumleague Lock. After crossing the canal at the lock, simply follow the trail back to Battlebridge Lock to complete the circuit.
