Ashbourne Playground
Ashbourne playground in Linear Park has been upgraded and extended into a multi-age play park, with separate play areas for younger and older children. You’ll find swings, climbing equipment, roundabouts and more.
Balrath Woods Play Trail
At Balrath Woods, near Kentstown just off the N2, a Play Trail winds through the woods with equipment dotted along the way. The trail is wheelchair accessible and includes four play areas:
- The ‘Shaky Bridge’ — head along the wheelchair path and turn left just before the pond.
- A swing suitable for children with disabilities, located just past the pond.
- Two ‘Play Ponies’ suitable for small children, a little further along the wheelchair path.
- A Climbing Web, reached by turning right off the wheelchair path.
There’s free car parking on site, along with nature walks and picnic areas — handy if you want to make a longer visit of it.

Duleek Playground
Duleek Playground on Station Road has a good spread of equipment for both big and small kids, including swings, springers, slides, climbing equipment and a lattice roundabout.
Dunboyne Playground & Skate Park
Dunboyne Playground has climbing equipment, a springer, seesaw, merry-go-round, swings and a slide. The neighbouring skate park is suitable for children aged 10 and up.
Kells Playground
The Fairgreen children’s play area is located across from the SuperValu shopping centre on the Cavan Road, with slides, a seesaw, merry-go-round and climbing equipment.

Laytown Playground
Laytown Playground has fun equipment including slides built into hills and a pirate ship for climbing. The railway bridge nearby means kids get the added excitement of watching trains go past. It’s easy to combine a visit here with a trip to Laytown Beach for a full day out.
Navan Playground
The playground at Blackwater Park has plenty of wooden equipment, including swing sets, slides, seesaws, climbing equipment and a wooden pirate ship.
People’s Park, Kells
People’s Park in Kells has a children’s playground, a picnic area and lots of space to run around. Its standout feature is the Spire of Lloyd, one of only two inland lighthouses in Ireland.
Slane Playground
There’s a small, enclosed playground in Slane on the Collon Road, with swings, roundabouts, slides and climbing equipment including a wooden fort. There’s a small car park but no toilets, and plenty of grass under the trees for a picnic.
Trim Playground
Trim Playground is a large wooden play area with castle- and drawbridge-style climbing equipment, slides (including one built into the hillside), a lattice-style roundabout, a sensory wall, spring rockets and a zipline. There’s also a seesaw and an oversized throne that makes for a great photo. Parking is available nearby.
