#1. Fire Station Fun

My boys love fire engines (and anything with wheels), so how about a restaurant located in a restored fire station? Engine Co. No. 28 is a traditional American grill serving simple, satisfying meals. The cool Junior Fighters Menu has plenty of kids’ favourites like burgers, pasta and chicken.

#2. Early Breakfast Option

The Grand Café at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel is not just for breakfast but if you’re looking for somewhere serving food early in the morning, this place opens at 6.30am. There’s lots to choose from and you can order breakfast from the menu or sample the divine buffet, complete with waffle stations. (The kids will love this!)

For something different try the L.A. Scramble a combination of mozzarella, apple-wood smoked bacon, avocado, eggs and Anaheim Chili Aioli. The restaurant has great views of the city and overlooks the Museum of Contemporary Art.

#3. 3 Square Café and Bakery

The kids will adore the chicken schnitzel served with crisp, skinny fries and you should definitely try the Pretzel Burger served on a pretzel knot bun with melted Swiss cheese and caramelised onions. A popular place for a leisurely weekend brunch also, their selection of breads and pastries are fab!

#4. Plan Check Kitchen

Plan Check Kitchen have 3 locations in Los Angeles, but this one in Sawtelle is particularly nice and handy for dining with kids. Outside seating is available and a nice option if the weather is good. The burgers are superb and far from basic with toppings like truffles, bleu cheese and unique sauces.

The smokey fried chicken here is legendary and don’t leave without trying the delicious sweet potato waffle fries with peach ketchup.  For dessert, the kids will love the warm donuts, cooked to order, and dusted in cinnamon sugar.

#5. M Café de Chaya

Wholesome and delicious, the menu at M Café de Chaya, on Melrose is without any refined sugars, eggs, dairy, red meat or poultry. You won’t feel like you’re missing anything though, as the food is so creative and tempting.

A perfect choice if you are vegetarian/ vegan or have special dietary requirements but don’t let this be the only reason you visit this restaurant. The bear-shaped blue-beary buckwheat pancake on the kids menu is a yummy sweet treat!

#6. Tiara Café

Ooey Gooey Golden Macaroni and Cheese Balls are top of the Tiara Cafe’s lunch menu and who wouldn’t be tempted to try these? This restaurant is famous for its daily crispy Pizzettes, a super bubbly pizza dough decorated with a choice of meats, cheeses and other interesting toppings. This café is spacious and comfortable for families with room for highchairs and buggies.

#7. Los Angeles Pizza

best restaurants in los angelesI have yet to meet a child who doesn’t like pizza or pasta, and you’ll find a tempting selection at Pitfire Artisan Pizza. The menu invites you to ‘Be an Artist’ and create your own pizza if you like, and kid-sized pizzas and mini-pasta dishes are available. The organic soft-serve ice cream is delicious!

#8. Mendocino Farms

Excellent healthy food and tasty sandwiches, there are a number of Mendocino Farms in Los Angeles. The one in Sherman Oaks is particularly great for families and has fussball tables and oversized chalk board walls with chalk for doodling. There’s plenty of delicious choices to keep everyone happy.
