Fun Activities For Kids at Home
Toy Parachutes
These easy mini parachutes can create hours of fun. Just follow these simple steps.
You Will Need
- Plastic bag or material
- Sellotape
- Scissors
- String
- A small, lightweight toy
- Hole punch (optional)
What To Do
- Cut a square out of your material or plastic bag.
- Use sellotape to cover all 4 corners. This will help to strengthen this area.
- Pierce a hole through each corner you can use a hole punch or use a pair of scissors carefully to make a small hole.
- Cut four pieces of string. Each piece of string needs to be the same length as the square of material you’re using.
- Thread each piece of string through a corner.
- Tie two pieces on each side together to make a loop. 7. Put this loop under your toy’s arms.
- Your toy is ready to parachute!
Top Tip: Don’t use a heavy toy. Use something small and that won’t break. Only drop the toy from a safe height in your home and make sure the toy will have a safe landing.

Trashion Show
Fashion meets recycling, in this activity full of creativity. Turn this activity into a competition and work in teams to make the best outfits.
You Will Need
- Clean recycling
- Cereal boxes
- Bubble-wrap
- Plastic bottle
- Safety scissors
- String
- Sellotape
What To Do
- Find and clean the materials you want to use. Plastic bottles, bubble wrap, foil, cardboard are perfect.
- Set a theme for the outfits you want to create e.g. superheroes, royalty, animals, wedding.
- Create your outfit using the materials you’ve found. Don’t forget accessories!
- Once you’ve finished, ask a member of your household to be a judge.
- Find a space for a catwalk and strut your stuff to your favourite music.
- The judge announces their winner.
- Set a different theme and repeat!

Monster Mash Up
Get creative and have lots of laughs with this hilarious consequences spin-off!
You Will Need
- Paper
- Pens
What To Do
- Each player needs a pen and piece of A4 paper.
- Each player draws a head of a creature (real or imagined!) at the top of their piece of paper.
- Fold this section of paper over to the base of the neck.
- Each player passes their folded piece of paper to the player on their left.
- Draw the body and arms (or tentacles!) of a creature
- Fold this section down to the end of the waist and pass to the player on the left.
- Draw the legs and/or tail, fold this section and pass.
- Draw the feet, claws, hooves of a creature, fold this section down and pass to your left.
- You should now be left with a piece of paper folded into itself 4 times.
- One by one each player reveals the creature you’ve been given.
- As a group you can then decide who wins and the names of each of your mash up monsters.
