Of course, the highlight of Easter for most kids is the Easter Egg Hunt. In our house, we always hunted the back garden for eggs the Easter Bunny had hidden.
But once the egg hunt is over, what else is there to do with a preschooler? Plenty, as it turns out.

#1. Homemade Easter Cards
Get out some card or paper, fold it, and let your preschooler loose with paints and glue. I always keep a stash of craft feathers for projects – the yellow and white ones are perfect for decorating Easter chick cards.

Dress up a plain party hat with paper bunny ears, like this cute idea from Lia Griffith. Add a homemade pom pom (see how to make a pom pom here) and you’re good to go.

#3. Play Bunny Tag
Kids get plenty of exercise playing Bunny Tag. Pick one child to be the dog, chasing the others, who are the bunnies. The bunnies hop away from the dog, and if caught, they crouch down and hold their arms up like bunny ears until the game ends. The last bunny caught becomes the dog for the next round.

#4. Hold a Teddy Bear’s Easter Picnic
Set up a blanket indoors, or outdoors if the weather allows, and hold an Easter picnic. You’ll need some teddy bear guests, of course, plus a few snacks and drinks for everyone.

#5. See Some Baby Animals
This is the perfect time of year to visit a pet farm. After a long winter, kids love running around outdoors and taking in the sights of spring – feeding a bottle to a baby lamb or cupping a baby chick in their hands.

#6. Play Bunny, Bunny, RABBIT!
An Easter twist on the classic Duck, Duck, Goose. Here’s how to play:
- Sit the kids down in a circle.
- Select one child to be “it”.
- The “it” child walks around the outside of the circle, patting each player on the head and saying “bunny” until they choose to say “RABBIT”.
- Both the “it” child and the chosen “RABBIT” hop around the circle, racing to reach the vacant spot.
- Whoever doesn’t make it to the spot in time becomes “it” for the next round.
#7. Hold an Egg and Spoon Race
Have an egg and spoon race around the garden or a nearby park. Plastic or cardboard eggs are best so nothing gets smashed, but decorated hard-boiled eggs work well too if you want the real old-school version.
#8. Make Easter Egg Mosaics
These simple Easter Egg Mosaics are a fun activity for preschoolers, who’ll enjoy creating their own designs while learning their colours along the way. Aside from a bit of glue, these mosaics cost nothing to make and can be put together entirely from recycled materials.
#9. Make a Bunny Mask
This little bunny mask is adorable and easy to make. Cut out the middle of a paper plate, attach ears and whiskers cut from card (curl the ends of the ears for effect), and attach a lolly stick so little ones can hold the mask up.
#10. Easter Colouring Pages
I always printed seasonal colouring pages for my two daughters when they were small – they squealed with delight watching the pages come off the home printer.
