As someone who had an unusual name for the time, in a small town in Ireland (and loved being the only one in town), I truly understand parents seeking an unusual name. My mother insisted it was never shortened either!

When the time came for us to name our son, I too wanted to choose a good strong name that was unusual. And 6 years into his school life, he is still the only one of that name, in a school of 350+ pupils! His name is Christian, by the way! Not a completely unknown name, but where we live it turned out to be unique.

And it looks like there’s plenty of parents out there looking for something different too when it comes to naming their child – a recent Time survey showed that 60% of Millennial parents wanted to choose a baby name that was unique. To be unique is so important nowadays, that many parents don’t even reveal their chosen name until birth, for fear of copycats!

But what can you choose that is truly unique?

Thankfully babycenter has compiled a list of the most unusual and creative baby names of 2015 (from over 300,000 parents surveyed), with each name that features being given to at least 3 children to qualify.

Looking at the list, it appears these creative parents of boys took inspiration from many places – designers (Armani), Gods (Apollo, Oden), and movies and books (Jedi, Scout, D’Artagnan). Whilst the parents of girls were inspired by places (Alabama, Kansas), flowers (Primrose, Tulip) and meterological phenomenon (Storm)!

Without further ado, here are those 100 names that are definitely unique….
