Now he must find her a home before his boss (Kelsey Grammar) finds out! Are him and his friend Tulip (Katie Crown) up to the job?

The Queen of Katwe PG – Tells the story of  Phiona, (Madina Nalwanga), a young girl from the Kampalan slums in Uganda. Her world changes when she meets Robert Katende (David Oyelowo) who trains her to become a world chess champion.

Trolls PG – Poppy (Anna Kendrick) the leader of the trolls and Branch (Justin Timberlake) who is her total opposite head off an adventure that takes them way beyond their world in a bid to save their village.

The Girl on the Train 15A – Every day Rachel Watson’s (Emily Blunt) train passes her old home where her ex-husband now lives with his new wife and child. In a bid to avoid looking at her past she focuses on a house a few doors away where Megan and Scott Hipwell live. When Megan (Haley Bennett) goes missing Rachel becomes obsessed with what has happened to her. Will she find out the truth?

Inferno 12A – Based on the novel by Dan Brown, Inferno tells the story of Professor Langdon (Tom Hanks) who is on the trail of clues tied to Dante. When he wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia it is a race against time for him to regain his memory and solve the puzzle.

The Flag 12A – Starring Pat Shortt, The Flag is a new Irish comedy caper about the 1916 Rising. After returning to Ireland to bury his Grandfather, who helped raise the flag above the GPO in 1916, Harry Cambridge (Pat Shortt) decides to steal the flag from an army barracks in London and bring it back to Ireland in time for a commemoration ceremony.

For all Skylanders fans out there, Netflix have announced the launch of Skylanders Academy on October 28th 2016. Based on the video game from Activision Blizzard, it includes Spyro, Eruptor, Stealth Elf, Jet-Vac and Pop Fizz who will train at the Skylanders Academy to protect the universe from evil-doers.

  • Sky – The Angry Birds movie and Alice Through the Looking Glass will be available this October to rent or buy

  • The Magnificent Seven 12A – A remake of another classic, this western tells the tale of seven gunmen who come together to protect a village from savage thieves.
  • Hunt for the Wilderpeople 12A – The hunt is on to find a rebellious child and his foster uncle who go missing in the bush in New Zealand.

  • Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children 12A – Jake discovers Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and gets to know the residents and their superpowers.

The Little Prince will premiere on Netflix on Friday, August 5, 2016 in Ireland, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and the US. Based on the 1943 novel of the same name, director Mark Osborne brings you the first-ever animated feature film adaptation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s iconic masterpiece.

Written by Irena Brignull and Bob Persichetti, this acclaimed film features voice work by Jeff Bridges, Rachel McAdams, Paul Rudd, Marion Cotillard, James Franco, and Ricky Gervais. At the heart of the beloved story is a young girl and her overbearing mother, who is preparing her for the very grown-up world in which they live – only to be interrupted by her eccentric, kind-hearted neighbour, The Aviator. The Aviator introduces The Little Girl to his new friend The Little Prince, and a world where anything is possible.

  • Pete’s Dragon – PG The story of the special bond between an orphaned boy, Pete, and his best friend, Elliott, who just happens to be a dragon.
  • Nine Lives – PG The story of a stuffy businessman, Tom Brand, who finds himself trapped inside the body of his family’s cat. If any hope exists of returning to his family as the husband and father they deserve, Tom will have to learn why he has been placed in this peculiar situation and the great lengths he must go to earn back his human existence
  • Kubo – PG Clever, kindhearted Kubo ekes out a humble living, telling stories to the people of his seaside town including Hosato, Hashi and Kamekichi. But his relatively quiet existence is shattered when he accidentally summons a spirit from his past which storms down from the heavens to enforce an age-old vendetta.
  • Ben Hur – PG-13 The epic story of Judah Ben-Hur, a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala, an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves, Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption.

July 2016

  • The BFG – PG is out in cinemas on July 22nd 2016. This classic Roald Dahl tale of Sophie and The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) is brought to life by movie legend Steven Spielberg.
  • Finding Dory – G follows Dory, from Finding Nemo fame, as she is reunited with her loved ones. Of course there are a few adventures along the way.
  • Ghostbusters – 12A  the Ghostbusters must save the world from a powerful demon ghost, Rowan who can control humans. And prove to the world that ghosts really do exist.
  • Ice Age Collision Course – G In his quest to find his elusive acorn Scrat is catapulted into space and sets off a series of cosmic events that threatens the planet!
  • The Legend of Tarzan – 12A Having made a life for himself in London, Tarzan is called back to help his friends in the Jungle and investigate the activities of a mining company.
  • Now You See Me 2 – 12A One year on from their Robin Hood style antics that outwitted the FBI the Four Horsemen are back for another comedy, action thriller.
  • Star Trek Beyond – PG  the USS Enterprise crew explore to the outer reaches of the universe where they encounter a new enemy who threatens all that the Federation stands for.

Netflix Julies Greenroom

Netflix has announced the worldwide debut of Julie’s Greenroom, a new series for preschoolers from the Jim Henson Company which will arrive exclusively to Netflix viewers in early 2017. The series has been co-created by and stars screen legend, Julie Andrews. New releases arriving in June include The Good Witch Season 1, Jurassic Park, Pokemon the Movie: Hoppa and the Clase of Ages and XY:Kalos Quest Season 2, Beauty and the Beast Season 3 and LEGO Friends: The Power of Friendship Season 2,

Sky have released a new Kids App for on the go viewing, ideal for summer travel. The app is free to download for existing Sky Customers and offers advertisement free viewing and and can be customised by age and they can choose a Sky Buddy to personalise the app too.

Gifted with the ability to freeze her enemies in ice, Freya teaches her young soldiers to never fall in love. When Eric and fellow warrior Sara defy this rule, the angry queen does whatever she can to stop them.
  • Ratchet & Clank – PG The story of two unlikely heroes as they struggle to stop a vile alien named Chairman Drek from destroying every planet in the Solana Galaxy. Kong – King of the Apes arrives on Netflix this month. Set in 2050, Kong becomes a wanted fugitive after wrecking havoc at Alcatraz Island’s Natural History and Marine Preserve. What most humans on the hunt for the formidable animal don’t realize, though, is that Kong was framed by an evil genius who plans to terrorize the world with an army of enormous robotic dinosaurs. As the only beast strong enough to save humanity from the mechanical dinos, Kong must rely on the help of three kids who know the truth about him.

New Family Movie Releases this month include:

  • Capture the Flag (PG) – is a new CG animated movie from Spanish animation studio Lightbox Entertainment. A young surfer, Mike Goldwing, rallies his friends to stop a billionaire from rewriting history as a way to horde Helium 3, the clean energy of the future.

  • The 33 (12A) – is based on the true story of the Chilean miners who were left underground for 69 days after the mine they were working in in San Jose, collapsed.
  • Freeheld (12A)  – Laurel Hester is diagnosed with terminal cancer and this film tells the story of her battle to secure pension benefits for her registered domestic partner, Stacie Andree.
  • The Assassin (12A) – tells the story of a female assassin who was in love with one of her targets. Where do her loyalties lie? Set in China during the Tang Dynasty.
  • The 5th Wave (12A) – mankind has been decimated by waves of alien invasions. 16 year old Cassie Sullivan is trying to survive and find her younger brother.
  • Ride Along 2 (12A) – tells the story of Ben Barber (Kevin Hart) who heads to Miami with his soon to be brother in law, James Payton (Ice Cube) to pursue a drug dealer who is supplying the dealers of Atlanta with drugs.

Age classification are all Irish Film Board Classifications.

The BT Young Scientist Exhibition takes place at the RDS from January 6th to 9th 2016. Well worth a visit if you happen to be in Dublin on those dates.

  • The Peanuts Movie (PG) – Snoopy, the world’s most lovable beagle – and flying ace! – embarks upon his greatest mission as he and his team take to the skies to pursue their arch-nemesis, while his best pal Charlie Brown begins his own epic quest back home.

  • Christmas with the Coopers (12A) – Comedy about four generations of the Cooper family getting together for their annual Christmas Eve celebration.
  • Ice and the Sky (G) – Follows the journey of Claude Lorius who, in 1955 replied to an ad, looking for people to join an expedition to the Far South of the Antarctic.
  • In the Heart of the Sea (12A) – Set in 1820, aboard the ‘Essex’ crewmen (Cillian Murphy, Benjamin Walker and Chris Hemsworth) face a battle for survival against a mammoth size whale.
  • Star Wars The Force Awakens (12A) The much anticipated continuation of the Star Wars saga created George Lucas. 30 years on from defeating the Galactic Empire, Han Solo, played by Harrison Ford, and his allies face a new threat from the evil Kylo Ren, played by Adam Driver, and his army of Stromtroopers.

      • Spectre (PG-13) – the latest James Bond movie is out! A cryptic message from the past sends James Bond on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia Sciarra, the beautiful and forbidden widow of an infamous criminal. Bond infiltrates a secret meeting and uncovers the existence of the sinister organization known as SPECTRE.
