So what will be the next BIG kids movies? We’ve got the inside scoop on the upcoming movie releases. In 2023, there are some familiar characters reappearing in sequels, but also some exciting new original movies coming! Here is a sneak peek at some of the hottest kids movies 2023 – we can’t wait!

Kids Movies for 2023

If you’re looking forward to a trip to the cinema during 2023, here’s a list of family movies to make a note of for your calendar!

The Amazing Maurice

Maurice is a streetwise ginger cat who comes up with a money-making scam by befriending a group of self-taught talking rats. When Maurice and the rodents reach the stricken town of Bad Blintz, they meet a bookworm called Malicia and their little con soon goes down the drain.

Starring Hugh Laurie, Emilia Clarke, Himesh Patel, Joe Sugg, Gemma Arterton, David Tennant, Hugh Bonneville and Ariyon Bakare.

Expected release date: 13th January 2023

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly are suiting up once again for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania!, the third Ant-Man movie, following 2015’s Ant-Man and 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp. Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne, along with Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, explore the Quantum Realm, where they interact with strange creatures and embark on an adventure that goes beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.

Expected release: 17th February 2023

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

Everyone’s favorite role-playing game is coming to the big screen, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves stars Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez, alnog with Regé-Jean Page, Hugh Grant, Sophie Lillis, Daisy Head, Justice Smith, Jason Wong, Chloe Coleman, and others.

A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers embark on an epic quest to retrieve a long lost relic, but their charming adventure goes dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people

The Super Mario Bros. Movie

The Super Mario BrosMovie is an upcoming computer-animated film based on Nintendo’s Mario video game franchise, with Chris Pratt as the voice of Mario. A plumber named Mario travels through an underground labyrinth with his brother, Luigi, trying to save a captured princess.

Expected release: 7th April 2023

The Little Mermaid

Disney’s The Little Mermaid is a live-action reimagining of the animated musical classic, the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.

The film stars singer and actress Halle Bailey, Daveed Diggs, Jacob Tremblay, Awkwafina, Jonah Hauer-King, Art Malik, Noma Dumezweni, Javier Bardem and Melissa McCarthy.

Disney Pixar’s newest film, Elemental, directed by Peter Sohn and produced by Denise Ream, will take place in a new world. In a city where fire, water, land, and air residents live together, a fiery young woman and a go-with-the-flow guy are about to discover something elemental: how much they actually have in common.

Expected Release: 16th June 2023

The Marvels

The Marvels is the superhero sequel to Captain Marvel and based on Marvel Comics featuring Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

Expected release date: 28th July 2022

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

The pizza-loving Mutant Ninja Turtles are back in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, an animated feature produced by Seth Rogan. In a first time for the franchise, the four Turtles Michelangelo, Leonardo, Donatello, and Raphael will be voiced by actual teenagers at Rogen’s request.

Expected release: 4th August 2023

Paw Patrol The Mighty Movie

A magical meteor crashes into Adventure City, turning Chase, Marshall, Rocky, Rubble, Zuma, Skye, and Liberty into Mighty Pups! Everything is fun and games until the pups learn something terrible: Mayor Humdinger has broken out of jail and is teaming up with a mad scientist to steal the Mighty Pups’ superpowers. Can the Mighty Pups work together to stop these evil super-villains?

Dax Shepard, Taraji P. Henson, Kim Kardashian, Tyler Perry, Yara Shahidi, and others lend their voices to this animated film.

Trolls 3: The Trollstopia Movie

Poppy, Branch, and all their friends are back for the third installment of Trolls! When the Queen of the Hard Rock Trolls tries to take over all the Troll kingdoms, Queen Poppy and her friends try different ways to save all the Trolls.

Voiced by Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake and Rachel Bloom.

Expected release date: November 2023


The latest take on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl arrives just in time for the holiday season. This time we enter a world of pure imagination, back to the beginning, a prequel before Willy Wonka had his famed chocolate factory. Wonka follows the fantastical journey of the young chocolatier, as he meets the Oompa-Loompas and comes up with his delectable candy recipes.

The musical movie stars Timothée Chalamet as Willy Wonka and features a star-studded cast including Rowan Atkinson, Olivia Colman, Keegan-Michael Key, Sally Hawkins, Mathew Baynton, and others.

Expected release date: 15th December 2023

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins will be the first woman to direct a feature-length Star Wars project with Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. This movie is an original story, which will introduce a new generation of starfighter pilots in a thrilling adventure. Details about the exact plot and cast have been kept quiet.
