In preparation for Halloween, most families nowadays buy a pumpkin and do some pumpkin carving. Instead of just adding it to your weekly grocery shop, why not go pumpkin picking? Most places that offer pumpkin picking also offer fun Halloween events for kids alongside.
There are lots of fun places for pumpkin picking around Ireland, so whether your kids have their hearts set on a giant jack-o-lantern or a cute little one, you’re sure to find the perfect one. Alright Pumpkin, Meath

Dates: October 1-2, 8-9, 15-16, and 22-23
Alright Pumpkin in Fordstown, Co. Meath, have Pick Your Own pumpkin and sweet corn, you can have fun trying out their pumpkin maze and watch pumpkin carving demonstrations.

Michael’s Pumpkin Patch, Galway
Dates: October 16th to 31st
Michael, aged 16, grows his own pumpkins and started his pumpkin patch in 2020. After two very successful years, he will be back bigger than ever for 2022!
As well as Michael’s pumpkins, enjoy seeing baby animals, and take home a party bag for the kids.

Pumpkin and Fun at Navan Adventure Centre, Meath
Dates: October 22nd, 23rd, 29th, 30th and 31st
There will be pumpkin picking and more fun at Navan Adventure Centre as your ticket includes a trip to the pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkin, as well as the carving area, witch’s slimy snot-making, inflatables obstacles courses and slides, adventure obstacle course, inflatable maze, mini golf, and FootGolf.

Killarney Pumpkin Farm

Dates: September 30th to October 2nd and October 7-9, 14-16, 21-23, 28-31
Pick your own pumpkin from the pumpkin patch – or a ghoulish gourd from the wonky patch!
Other activities include a corn maze to get lost in, a chance to meet the alpacas, seasonal storytelling, a walk through the haunted ghost bus, a visit to the pumpkin pixie village, and meeting the witch at her haunted cottage!

Galway Pumpkin Patch

Dates: October 8-9, 15-16, 22-23 and 29-30
Galway Pumpkin Patch takes place on the Whelan family farm in Ardrahan in South Galway throughout October, and is a hugely popular event.
Check out the mega selection of pumpkins in every shape and size, lots of cool Halloween decor and child-friendly games.

Kilkenny Pumpkin Picking
Dates: From October 16th
There is pumpkin picking at Hughes Farm, Kells, Kilkenny during October. Wellies advised!
For 2022, there will be a much larger site, including a dedicated food area with hot food options, carnival shop and coffee area all under cover. There will also be a kids’ entertainment zone, play area and digger zone, with more details still to be announced.

Oranmore Organic Farm, Galway
Dates: October 22nd
The Oranmore Organic Farm will host its first ever annual Pumpkin Patch this year, with a fun-filled event for all the family.
There will be a circuit of games to keep little ones entertained, as well as a host of activities and competitions to get involved in – not to mention enjoying the scenery of the farm with a relaxing cup of homemade pumpkin soup, plenty of photo opportunities and of course lots of pumpkins to choose from.

The Farm Grenagh, Cork
At The Farm Grenagh in Grenagh, Co. Cork you can visit the Pumpkin Patch in the Secret Garden and choose the pumpkin that’s just right for you, then the witches will carve it while you enjoy some face painting.

Dates: October 15-16, 22-23, and 28-30
Come and pick your own pumpkin straight from the field, design and carve it to keep the ghosts away this Halloween.
Entry is free, however tickets must be booked and pumpkins are priced from €3 to €15 depending on size.

Maxwell’s Pumpkin Patch, Tyrone

Explore this American-themed pumpkin patch in Castlederg where you can pick your own pumpkin, grab a great photo op at the Witches’ Log Cabin or alongside Rusty McTruck, a stunning 1950s Ford Pick Up Truck.
Travel through the maize maze, and keep an eye out to meet the friendly monster!

At Ladyrath Lane in Wilkinstown, Co. Meath, they have an annual Pumpkin event, but it sells out very quickly! Choose from thousands of pumpkins, buy and then carve your pumpkins in their Halloween barn.
Tickets include face painting, bouncy castles, halloween treats, halloween movies as well as indoor and outdoor games.

Piltown Pumpkin Patch, Meath
Piltown Pumpkin Patch at Ballymad Farm in County Meath will have pumpkin themed fun on Saturdays and Sundays during October including Halloween themed photo opportunities, a not so spooky woodland walk, plenty of pumpkins to choose from and a great time with the family on the farm. A small selection of soft drinks and snacks will be available for purchase (cash only).
