From dogs on trampolines to monsters under the bed, the John Lewis Christmas ad is an annual ‘have you seen it yet’ conversation that we all engage in. And, of course, this year’s is no different.
With a powerful message of connection and a desire to relate to those around us, this mini tale manages to deliver in spades – and with a follow through for charity that we can all get involved with. Take a look at the ad below, as well as some behind the scenes information, and then see how you can shop to benefit charity this year.
John Lewis Christmas Ad 2022: The Beginner
This year’s Christmas ad tells the story of a man who takes up a new hobby a little later in life. Although he struggles initially, he never gives up – despite the bumps and scrapes. And, after a few weeks, he begins to get the hang of it.
But then, with a ring of the doorbell, it becomes clear what – or who – all his efforts have been for. Because it’s what we do, that matters most.
The powerful message of ‘connection’ is something we can all get behind, especially when you consider the reality behind children and young people in care across the UK.
The Story Behind this Year’s John Lewis Ad
More than 108,000 children and young people in the UK will be in care this Christmas. Using such a significant platform to highlight the need for awareness, care, compassion and representation will surely make a real difference to children who are feeling isolated and alone this year.
