New Netflix Animated Musical Over The Moon

About Over the Moon

Over The Moon is the story of a girl named Fei Fei. Her mother, now deceased, used to tell her tales of Chinese mythology including the adventures of the Moon goddess, Chang’e.

Now that Fei Fei’s father is considering remarrying, Fei Fei is having a hard time adjusting to the idea of a new mom and stepbrother.

So she decides to build a rocket ship to fly to the moon in search of Chang’e, to prove the goddess exists. Fei Fei is a great example of a STEM proficient kid (and girl!). Her determination is naturally fuelled by the adults who tell her Chang’e isn’t real.

Her journey on the colourful Lunaria forces her to accept change and rediscover joy. There she ends up on an unexpected quest, and discovers a whimsical land of fantastical creatures. (And finds Chang’e, who has apparently taken up a pop career!)

Meet The Makers of Over The Moon

The director is Glen Keane, a longtime Disney animator and Oscar winner for Dear Basketball.

Pearl Studio, also behind the recent Abominable, produced the movie.

The cast of Over the Moon has an impressive line up including Sandra Oh, Cathy Ang, Phillipa Soo and Margaret Cho.

With a musical score by Steven Price, and songs by Christopher Curtis, Marjorie Duffield, and Helen Park, there’s plenty of catchy tunes to enjoy.

Over The Moon will be shown in select cinemas on 16th October and streaming on Netflix from 23rd October 2020.
