It’s a film about a dog and a boy. But this animated short film has an unexpected twist that will make you question yourself. Watch the award-winning short film The Present and you’ll see why.

Jake spends most of his time playing videogames indoors until his mum decides to give him a present, a dog. But this is a dog with a difference. And Jake playing games is not what you think either,

Isn’t it easy to dismiss the boy as a typical lazy teen who is preoccupied with playing video games? Aren’t we quick to judge?

“The Present” directed by Jacob Frey, is a graduation short from the Institute of Animation, Visual Effects and Digital Postproduction at the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg in Ludwigsburg, Germany. It is based on a great little comic strip by the very talented Fabio Coala Cavalcanti.

Screened at over 180 film festivals, The Present has won more than 50 awards world wide. And you can see why.
