Chocolate Christmas Tree Edible Decorations

Are you looking for Christmas recipes to make with the kids? These Chocolate Tree Decorations sent in by Denise T, would be ideal for some seasonal baking with the kids, and they would also make a fab foody present.

Ingredients:

  • 75g / 3oz butter
  • 2 tablespoons of golden syrup
  • 150g /  5oz caster sugar
  • 325g / 11oz plain flour
  • 15g /  1/2 oz cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons bicarbonate of soda
  • 4 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tube of ready 2 use white writing icing
  • Mini Smarties + fine ribbon to finish

Method:

  1. Set oven 2 180C/350F/ Gas 4
  2. Brush baking sheets with oil using a pastry brush
  3. Put butter, syrup and sugar in saucepan, heat gently until butter has melted
  4. Sift the flour, cocoa, cinnamon & bicarbonate into bowl, then add melted butter mix with milk, mix into a smooth ball, leave 2 cool for 5 mins
  5. Knead until evenly coloured, roll on a lightly floured surface, till 1/4 inch thick
  6. Stamp out Christmas shapes with cutters
  7. Bake in oven 10-12 mins
  8. Make a hole at the top of each biscuit using the end of a teaspoon, leave to cool
  9. Pipe on white icing (straight from tube) decorate with sweets and leave to harden.
  10. Thread fine ribbon through the hole at the top of each biscuit, eat within 3 days
