If you’re nervous about fondant, set your sights on buttercream instead. Luckily, the ice and snow theme lends itself perfectly to using plain white or pale buttercream. You can then dress up the cake with some Frozen toy figures, sweets, sprinkles, or other decorations.

Step up your buttercream game with some ombre style – isn’t this just gorgeous! You can see just how to create an ombre buttercream cake with these step-by-step instructions from Better Home & Garden.

If you’re up for learning a new skill, these buttercream piped roses look fantastic, and make a great choice for the wow factor.

You can see how to make them with this great buttercream rose tutorial – you never know when it may come in handy, as it’s particularly impressive for bake sale or birthday party cupcakes.

If you are looking to put this new skill to the test, what about this fantastic Frozen cake that combines both the ombre look above with the buttercream roses.

If Anna or Elsa is your child’s favourite character, what about trying a doll cake? This is ideal for small groups or as a cake just for family, and we’ve got instructions for an Elsa cake here to guide your through this impressive option!

Can’t decide which princess to feature? Why not try both?! We love this double doll cake we found on Pinterest, which has both Anna and Elsa on it.

The style would require a larger cake for the skirt base, but could be a good option for twins or friends looking to share a cake.

Olaf fans will just LOVE this pull-apart cupcake cake from Decorating with DeAnna! Isn’t it adorable? Make the shape you require with cupcakes, then frost them to look like one large cake. Everyone can help themselves when it’s time for cake, and there’s no time needed for cutting and serving – great for little kids!

Another fantastic and achievable Olaf cake is this fun one we found on Pinterest. Surround a cake (homemade or shopbought) with Kit Kat fingers or chocolate finger biscuits, add some blue buttercream to the top and use large marshmallows for Olaf. Add some details with edible marker pens, and you have an incredible showstopper cake with minimal effort!
