Kenwood Young Baker Competition: The Details
There are two categories in the Kenwood Young Baker competition – Junior (1st-3rd year) and Senior (4th-6th year) – with an overall winner and two runners up in each category.
This year the cake must be a single tier cake and the theme is ‘Dreams’, so whatever the theme means to you the judges want to see it!
Who Are the Judges?
The judges include Master pastry chef, Shane Smith; multi-award winning pastry chef and TV chef, Aoife Noonan; President of the Association of Teachers of Home Economics, Michelle Mc Cabe; and Kenwood Recipe Development Chef, Sophie Meechan.
The judges will be looking for creativity, presentation, sophistication and originality.
“This is a great opportunity for the young bakers of Ireland to showcase their talents,” says Aoife Noonan. “With the theme ‘Dreams’ I can’t wait to see what students dream up!”
What’s the Prize?
The overall Kenwood Young Baker in Junior and Senior categories will each win:
- a Kenwood kMix stand mixer
- a full appliance kit-out of their Home Economics classroom
- an online cookery course for the each winning class with Shane Smith
Runners up will each receive a Kenwood Chefette.
Winners and runners up in each category will also receive a Kenwood Kids Club kit.
