Supporting Families on the birth of their baby with Down Syndrome, The Perfect Gift was set up by mums Sinead and Rachel in 2015. The Perfect Gift celebrates the arrival of babies with Down Syndrome in Ireland. They send a gift basket to new Mums to congratulate them on the birth of their baby. And let them know they are there to support them on the truly amazing journey they are beginning. Today Rachel runs the online support group and Sinead looks after The Perfect Gift Baskets.

When a new baby is born with Down Syndrome in Ireland it’s sad to say that the new parents very often never hear the words ‘Congratulations’ but instead hear I’m sorry!

Sinead and Rachel found from having their own babies, Grace and Matthew, who have Down Syndrome that there is “too much negativity and old fashioned and outdated information being given to new parents. We tried in a small way to help by sending gift baskets to new parents to congratulate them on their new arrival and inviting them to our support group online“.

The online group is focused on supporting families on the birth of their baby with Down Syndrome in Ireland. It offers a place where parents can come to celebrate good times, share information, seek advice and help each other through tough times.
