Looking for somewhere family friendly to eat in Roscommon? Here is our pick of the best child friendly restaurants in Roscommon.

In our experience buggies are rarely welcome anywhere. Some places will take buggies from you at the door, others will quite simply refuse you entry.  So when possible if dining out with a young baby bring the car-seat and with an older baby or toddler you will find high chairs / booster seats in any child friendly eatery. Here’s what we think makes a restaurant child friendly.

Lakeside Café Lough Key, Roscommon

Revive & re-energise in The Lakeside Café, at Lough Key Forest & Activity Park, where you can enjoy gourmet fair-trade coffee & tea with some homemade sweet & savoury delights, overlooking the beautiful vista of Castle Island & Lough Key. There is also an outdoor deck for those dry days! Children are  well catered for, with a tasty small menu that changes regularly – hot food with a cold choice of flavoured sugar free drink, and babies are not forgotten so be sure to ask for your baby bowl! High chairs are provided and there are colouring pages and crayons available to keep the children entertained while you enjoy your coffee and the views.

Gleeson’s Townhouse & Restaurant

The award-winning Gleeson’s Townhouse & Restaurant is situated in the heart of Roscommon Town, beside the tourist office. You can dine here for breakfast dinner and tea and there’s a good tasty and diverse children’s menus using healthy ingredients.

Keenans of Tarmonbarry

Keenans of Tarmonbarry is right on the bank of the Shannon, and this popular stop off has great food and views. Take a walk along the river banks after your meal and you’re ready for off again!

Ardcarne Garden Cafe

The Ardcarne Garden Cafe, Ardcarne, near Boyle is run by the Maher brothers (of The Oarsman in Carrick-on-Shannon). The cafe has a wonderful mediterranean feel. Food is all freshly made on the premises and there’s a great children’s menu with loads of pasta options.

Brunos

Brunos, in Boyle is a traditional Italian, serving freshly made pizzas, and great pasta dishes, with a range of Italian desserts.
