Children’s playgrounds are in almost every town in Co. Monaghan so you can be sure that you are never far away from one. Most of them are enclosed modern playgrounds equipped with swings, slides, climbing frames etc.
Why not take the kids to a different playground every now and again – mine love the excitement of finding a new one every few weeks!

Muckno Playground, Castleblayney
Muckno play park in Castleblayney comes recommended by Elaine. She says it’s “a fantastic park with all the essential features including a tall climbing tower with a twisty slide attached.”
There is a separate toddlers’ area with swings, sandpit, springing horses, playhouse with slide, shipwreck with ropes, climbing and balancing pole.
Ballybay Town Park
There is an inclusive playground at Ballybay Town Park which has swings, climbing equipment, seesaw, roundabout. There are also picnic areas, toilets, walking trails, football/basketball court, outdoor gym.
Doohamlet Community Park Playground
Doohamlet Community Park has a playground as well as multi-use games area plus wildflowers planted around the mown areas in the park. At the playground you’ll find swings, slide, springers and climbing equipment.
Carrickmacross Playground
The Carrickmacross Playground has seesaw, basket and regular swings, climbing equipment, slides and toddler play set.
Rossmore Forest Park Playground, Monaghan
Rossmore Forest Park Playground was opened in 2019. Mum Elaine says “it is a fantastic park just redone last year with amazing wooden structures, zip lines and even a giant’s head that you crawl through his ear!”
Afterwards enjoy some of the walking trails and amenities such as picnic areas that Rossmore Forest Park has to offer.
