People’s Park
There is a secure playground within the People’s Park at Pery Square. It has ample space with a separate area for small children to the older children. The park itself is lovely to walk around with bandstand, drinking fountain and a large green area.
Limerick Art Gallery is nice to visit with a coffee shop to pop into after the trip to the park. Parking is on the street and parking discs required.
Mungret Playground
Mum Aisling says “Mungret Playground is my number 1 playground. It has wheelchair accessible swings, roundabouts and bouncy bridge, sensory activities, areas for small and bigger kids, zip line, and much more.
There are also outdoor gym & exercise machines, picnic benches and walking, cycling paths in adjacent Park area.
Also, an automated public toilet which is so necessary and notably missing in many playgrounds.”

Loughill Playground
Mum Deirdre recommends Loughill Playground. “It has the usual play area with slides swings etc, and also has a small trampoline built into ground and a sandpit and zip wire.
In the middle area there is an all weather astro pitch. At the further end there is a permanent “bandstand” and a little area with chimes and drums and hopscotch. There is a tarmac path the whole perimeter of the playground and toilet facilities with on site plus shop facilities for sweets drinks etc during summer months.”
O’Brien’s Park
O’Brien’s Park on Clare St has a children’s playground, park shelter and a cast iron drinking fountain. On street parking and parking discs required.
Castletroy Park
Castletroy Park, opposite Castletroy College, Castletroy has 1.2 km of pedestrian pathways, a fully equipped children’s playground, skateboarding area, circular cycle route, and central performance and exhibition area with covering structure. park furniture, ornamental planting areas, a public car park and main entrance feature. Off street parking area.
Curragh Chase Forest Park
Curragh Chase Forest Park at Kilcornan has picnic sites and BBQ area, toilets, two children’s playgrounds, forest walks and gardens. There is ample car parking but NB entrance to grounds costs €5 (in coins) per car.

Shelbourne Park
Shelbourne Park, off the Ennis Road, has a play area within an open park with walking and cycling track, 2 green areas used for football and for kids to run around. Seating around the walk and picnic tables outside the play area. Toilets and limited off street parking.
Ballingarry Playground
The Ballingarry Playground is a fantastic playground in the local village park in ballingarry so it’s surrounded by trees and a nice park walk too. Car parking available.
Moyross Playground
Moyross Playground is undergone a facelift after winning the Brennan’s Bread playground competition. Large play area with some fantastic wooden climbing structures. There’s a wooden train, grocery shop role play area, seating areas and plenty of space to run around.
