There are lots of great playgrounds throughout South Dublin. Here are some of our favourite Playgrounds in South Dublin The Kids Will Have A Ball In:

Rathfarnham Playground

Large modern playground on the grounds of Rathfarnham Castle, Dublin 14. Great play equipment for toddlers and pre-schoolers. Really large play area for older children. Highly Recommended.

Tymon Park, Tymon North Tallaght, Dublin 24 & Templeogue D6W

There are three great playgrounds in Tymon Park. There is a large adventure playground at the Tallaght entrance to the park. At the Templeogue entrance, there is another playground suitable for both toddlers and older children.

In the woods beside this playground there are several climbing frames, hammocks,a huge netted climbing pyramid and several other wooden play things along the path through the wood.

Marlay Park, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16

Marlay Park Playground
Marlay Park, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16 has a large playground with separate play area for younger children, including sand pit. Parent seating available.

Watch out for the ice cream van who is outside most of the year, if you don’t want to buy ice cream, have your excuses ready for the children!

St Stephens Green, Dublin 2

Large revamped playground is in the centre of the park in St Stephen’s Green. Suitable for toddlers to twelve year olds. Parent seating available.

Sean Walsh Park, Tallaght, Dublin 24

Large playground. Separate section for toddlers and pre-schoolers. Climbing frame and huge slide for older children. There is also an adults “gym” area with sit-up benches and cross-trainers!

Phoenix Park, Dublin 8

Large, modern playground at Phoenix Park with bright colourful equipment. Suitable for toddlers to twelve year olds. Parent seating.

Bushy Park Terenure Dublin 6W

Large playground with separate play area for younger children. Great wooden bridge and small maze. Parent seating available.

Cabinteely Park, Dublin 18

Fantastic Adventure Playground with toddler and pre-school area as well as a large area for older kids. Phase two of this playground is currently underway making it larger again!

Eamonn Ceannt Park, Sundrive, Dublin 12.

Large playground suitable for toddlers and older children. Parent seating available.

Griffeen Park, Lucan, Co Dublin.

Large playground. Parent seating available.

Corkagh Park, Clondalkin, Dublin 22.

Corkagh PlaygroundLarge playground providing play opportunities for both junior (2-6 years) and senior (6-12 years) age groups.

The free pet farm, located near the visitor centre and rose garden, is well worth a visit. Home to a range of farm animals, birds and beds, younger children will love seeing the animals up close. The Pet Farm is open daily from 11.00 to 12.45 and from 14.00 to 16.00.

Belgrave Park, Rathmines, Dublin 6.

People’s Park, Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin.

This large playground has a Toddler and Preschool area. Parent seating available.

Herbert Park, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.

Herbert Park is home to two playgrounds with a good selection of equipment for different ages.

Blackrock Park, Co Dublin.

Large modern playground. Suitable for toddlers upwards. Has an excellent climbing frame for older kids!

Ringsend Park, Dublin 4.

Playground with toddler and preschool area. Parent seating available.

Merrion Square Park, Dublin 2.

Large playground. Parent Seating Available.

St Patricks Park, Dublin 8.

Playgrounds suitable for toddlers to twelve year olds.

Shanganagh Park, Shankill, Co Dublin.

Large playground. Parent Seating Available.

Watergate Park, Tallaght

At Watergate Park in Tallaght you will find a diverse range of equipment for children of all ages. There is a separate section for smaller kids with baby slide, places to use your imagination underneath the slide, baby swings, bouncers, a cycle-yourself merry-go-round and a sand pit.

The section for older children has more challenging equipment such as a climbing wall, a very large slide, rope climbing pyramid, a rubber bridge for balance as well as swings and stand up roundabouts.

Mum Aine says “I think this is a well thought out playground because it encourages the development of gross motor skills through climbing and balance and fine motor skills playing in the sand. I also like it because all my children can have fun from age 1 to 6 and no one is saying that this is for babies because it caters for so many ages in the one small space.”
