Donadea Forest Park
Donadea Forest Park is a great place for a picnic, there’s a lovely lake with ducks and birds. You’ll also find many historical features as you explore the park including the remains of a castle, and a walled garden. There is a small café open all year.
Mullaghreelan Wood
Mullaghreelan Wood is a picturesque old woodland estate, with mixed trails, adjoining Kilkea castle.
The Curragh
Curragh Plains is a fantastic place to head out for a walk, a cycle, fly a kite or take a picnic on a sunny day. Do take care where you sit – the sheep roam freely, so there can often be sheep dirt.
Moone
There’s a park in Moone with a great wooden playground, goal posts, and good picnic spots.
Clonfert Pet Farm
Clonfert Pet Farm, near Maynooth, has fun indoor and outdoor play areas, café and a large picnic area.
Admission fees apply but are very reasonable.
