Children just love to go on a picnic, don’t they? Here are the best places around Kilkenny that are just great for a picnic with the kids.
Jenkinstown – A woodland park in the north of the county. There are picnic areas with picnic tables, grassy areas for the children to play on, a deer enclosure and public toilet facilities. The car park is open from 9.30am to 5.00pm.
Woodstock, Inistioge – Woodstock provides a mixture of formal and informal gardens to stroll around, with something for all the family. Picnic tables, a playground and toilet facilities. €4 admission fee per car, payable on exit.
Kilkenny Castle park – Park and gardens suitable for walking, relaxing and picnics. Modern playground suitable for kids up to twelve years old.
Nore Valley Park – A working farm with a wide variety of animals. Indoor and outdoor picnic facilities and you can also enjoy the playground, indoor maze, sandpit, karting, straw play area and much more. Entrance fee
Castlecomer Discovery Park – 80 acres of mixed woodland with 6km of woodland walking trails and nature trails. Two rainbow trout angling lakes. Lots of picnic areas and wooden sculptures throughout.
