#1. Over Door Storage
Use that over door space which normally is wasted to add some storage to your room. The Familyhandyman has step by step instructions for making box storage that can be used across the top of the door.

#4. Beds with Inbuilt Storage
If you are buying new beds, make sure they come with inbuilt storage, either pull out drawers or a mattress frame that can lift up completely.
Or make your own, like Courtney from Always Rooney, it took her about 12 hours but the end result is very chic and offers lots of extra storage.

#5. Raise The Bed
For our eldest daughter when she went from a cot to a big bed we bought a high bunk style single bed which had room underneath it to put a bookcase and we could also create a reading nook.
We also like this idea where the mattress is supported on top of a solid block unit with lots of cubbies to store toys and books.
#6. Use a Round Table
If you have a small dining corner, use a round table which allows you to fit more into the corner, e.g. having a bench seat and two or more chairs like this one on House to Decor. You could also build in an L-shaped bench in the corner for more seating options.

For our living room we bought two sets of small nesting tables which can be pulled out if we have guests or stacked away neatly at other times. Again, there are lots of options for nesting tables to be found on Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com, depending on your decor style.
#8. Maximise Cupboard Storage in the Kitchen
My own kitchen is on the tiny side, so there were a few things I did to help maximise space and storage.
- We had a pull out storage unit put into a corner cupboard unit, which pulls out and uses up that wasted corner space at the back – I store tins and spices on this.
- Installing a magnetic knife strip on the side of the cupboard by our stove instead of using counter top space with a knife block.
- We hung a wooden wine glass rack underneath one cupboard to hang wine glasses down from.
This idea from HGTV is another simple but effective way to increase storage in your cupboards, stackable wire racks hanging down from the shelves so you can double up the amount of plates and bowls you are able to store in that cupboard.
