Over the last 10 years Team Hope have delivered shoeboxes to over 1.8 million children, to some of the remotest and poorest parts of the world. The shoeboxes go to children who think they’ve been forgotten, and your kindness shows they haven’t been.
As with many events and campaigns in 2020, the annual appeal has had to evolve and change the gift-giving process – but you can still get involved.
Team Hope Shoebox Appeal 2020
This year the Christmas Shoebox Appeal is going to be run differently. Due to the effects of Covid-19 restrictions, it is not possible to send gift-filled shoeboxes from Ireland this year, so Team Hope are asking schools, families, friends, communities and businesses to #TeamUpForTeamHope by donating gift-filled shoeboxes online.
The new Team Hope website allows people to build-a-box online, personalise it by uploading a picture or image, and select gift items from they would like to include, for example:
- Wear – Gloves, hat, scarf, socks, top, underwear
- Wash – Comb, soap, sponge, toothbrush & toothpaste, washcloth
- Write – Colouring pencils, notepad, writing accessories
- Wow – Fun trinkets, musical toys, puzzles, soft toy, ball, sunglasses
These donations will allow their network of local partners in Africa and Eastern Europe to purchase items for shoeboxes, which will then be delivered straight into the hands of children affected by poverty.
The Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal Week
You can do your shoebox donation any time up to December 23rd, but from November 9-15th will be Christmas Shoebox Appeal Week.
During this time schools, families and communities are encouraged to celebrate the Christmas Shoebox Appeal 2020 by building and donating their shoeboxes online, sharing pictures on social media using #TeamUpForTeamHope and #ChristmasShoeboxAppeal.
Although this year may be different, the need for shoebox gifts is more important than ever. Help them spread the word and continue to bring joy to children affected by poverty. Each gift-filled shoebox is €20.
