Many of the playgrounds in Meath have been upgraded in recent years with fun equipment installed to suit different ages. Nothing beats a bit of outdoor play and fresh air!

Playgrounds In County Meath To Enjoy With Your Kids

Ashbourne Playground

Ashbourne playground in Linear Park was recently upgraded and extended, with a new multi-age play park with separate play areas for younger and older children. You’ll find swings, climbing equipment, roundabouts and more.

Balrath Woods Play Trail

At Balrath Woods, located near Kentstown, just off the N2, you’ll find a cool Play Trail with play equipment as you go through the woods. It’s also wheelchair accessible. There are four Play areas at Balrath Woods:

  • To reach the ‘Shaky Bridge’ head along the Wheelchair Path and turn left just before the Pond.
  • You’ll find the Swing, which is suitable for children with disabilities, located straight ahead past the pond.
  • Further along the Wheelchair Path you will find two ‘Play Ponies’ suitable for small children.
  • Turn right off Wheelchair Path, and continue until you come to the Climbing Web.

There’s free car parking, as well as other nature walks and picnic areas.

Duleek Playground

Duleek Playground at Station Road has a good selection of equipment for big and smaller kids. You’ll find swings, springers, slides, climbing equipment and a lattice roundabout.

Dunboyne Playground & Skate Park

Dunboyne Playground offers climbing equipment, a springer, seesaw, merry go round, swings and a slide. The nearby Skate Park is suitable for ages 10 years and up.

Kells Playground

The Fairgreen children’s play area is located across from the Supervalu shopping centre on the Cavan Road. You’ll find slides, seesaw, merry go round and climbing equipment.

Laytown Playground

Laytown Playground has some fun equipment including slides built into hills and a cool pirate ship for the kids to climb on. The railway bridge is nearby which means kids will enjoy trains zooming past. You can combine a visit to the Playground with a visit to the Laytown Beach to make it a day out.

Navan Playground

The playground at Blackwater Park has lots of wooden equipment including swing sets, slides, seesaws, climbing equipment and a cool wooden pirate ship.

People’s Park

At the People’s Park in Kells you will find a children’s playground, picnic area, and plenty of space to run around in. The main attraction is the Spire of Lloyd, one of only 2 inland lighthouses in Ireland.

Slane Playground

There is a small enclosed playground in Slane on the Collon Road. You’ll find swings, roundabouts, slides and climbing equipment including a cool wooden fort. You can picnic on the grass under the trees. There is a small car park but no toilets.  This lovely facility is located on the Collon Road.

Trim Playground

Trim Playground is a big wooden playground with lots of castle- and drawbridge-style climbing equipment, slides, lattice style roundabout, sensory wall, spring rockets and a zipline. You’ll also find a seesaw as well as slides (one built into the hillside) and an enormous throne, perfect for a good photograph. Parking nearby.
