Dún Spraoi, Portlaoise
Dún Spraoi at the Portlaoise Leisure Centre is very colourful and has lots of swinging and climbing equipment to keep kids of all ages busy, as well as an area with sand especially for the little ones.
In addition to the fun playground, there is a skate park, outdoor gym, and 800m walking/jogging track.
It can get quite busy at times, but children of all ages love it and there are plenty of benches for adults. There is a cafe and baby changing facilities near the pool.
Solas na Gréine, Portlaoise
Solas na Gréine at The People’s Park on Timahoe Road, Portlaoise offers lots of sliding, swinging and climbing fun for kids to enjoy, including a sand play area and a cable runaway.
In addition, there is outdoor gym equipment, a natural play area, orienteering course, woodland walk, fairy trail, and walking paths. The People’s Park also has a pond with lots of ducks and wild life.

Páirc Spraoi naHabhann, Portarlington
Páirc Spraoi naHabhann on Link Road, Portarlington is close to the swimming pool and has lots of equipment for kids of all ages.
Sult na Mara, Abbeyleix
Sult na Mara, located at People’s Park in Abbeyleix is a good playground for ages 1-12 years and has a 30m cable run, hammock and basket swings, net climb, tunnel slide and swings, and roundabout.
You will find this playground on the Portlaoise Road, to the rear of Heritage House which has a cafe and toilet facilities. It is in a lovely setting with picnic area, and has good equipment and an extensive sand and water play area for little ones.
Full Steam Ahead, Stradbally
Full Steam Ahead at The Green in Stradbally caters for 1-12 year olds. Kids can enjoy a tunnel Slide, climbing wall/web, 30m cable run, extensive sand and water play area for younger children, springers, stand up see-saw, roundabout, swings, basket swing, and a picnic area.
Mum Niamh says, “My kids love to go to it, there is equipment to suit all ages. It also has plenty of green area and benches for picnics. It’s gated and secure and once you have finished playing you are able to stroll to the local shop for tasty ice creams.”

Slí na bPaístí at the Amenity Park in Mountrath includes a 30m cable run, adventure trail, tunnel slide, climbing web, roundabout and more. Additional facilities include table tennis tables, wildlife park and river walk.
Daru na n’Og, Durrow
Daru na n’Og is a playground situated beside the Community Centre on the Derrywood/Kilkenny Rd in Durrow. It is well equipped and caters for up to 12 yr olds.
Tír na Spraoi, Clonaslee
Tír na Spraoi, Bellair at Clonaslee is located beside the Community Centre. In addition to the usual playground equipment, you’ll find a standing seesaw, cable runway, large rope swing, and curved and hillside slides.
Tír Súgartha, Killeen
The playground Tír Súgartha at Killeen has a variety of equipment suitable for 1-12 years. Older kids will also enjoy the multi-use play area for basketball, soccer, volleyball and tennis.
