You can enjoy everything from pirate days by the sea and fireworks & fun on Ireland’s rivers to storytelling on islands and aerobatic performances in the skies!

The May Bank Holiday is the start of the summer season and the award winning Riverfest Limerick is set to return for the May Bank Holiday, Friday 3rd to Monday 6th May 2019, offering a dazzling array of free activities to amuse families of all ages on and around the waters of the River Shannon in Limerick. Highlights of the festival will include:
- Riverfest Fireworks & Aerial Spectacle – A special new addition to Riverfest! Aerial circus performers, Fidget Feet, have joined forces with Classic Effects to create a spectacular aerial and fireworks display for the premiere of Sky Dance at Riverfest!
- Fashion Friday
- Riverfestival village in Arthur’s Quay Park
- Ireland’s largest BBQ cook-off
- Free tours of one of Ireland’s Navy Vessels
- Regeneron Great Limerick Run
Best of all most of the activities are completely free to keep you and your family entertained. There’s just so much activity for all ages it promises to be one excellent weekend to soak up Limerick City.

Fastnet Film Festival, Cork
Now in its 11th year the Fastnet Film Festival takes place in the seaside town of Schull and showcases Irish and international short films for audiences of all ages to enjoy. In addition there will be masterclasses, workshops for both children and adults, casting auditions for children and adults, live music and much more.
Events take place from May 22nd to 26th 2019.
Belfast Titanic Maritime Festival
Belfast Titanic Maritime Festival returns to Belfast’s Titanic Quarter on 25-27 May 2019. Climb aboard magnificent tall ships, explore the city’s maritime heritage and enjoy amazing family fun. Visitors are invited to:
- Hop aboard some magnificent vessels
- Sample an array of maritime-themed family fun and food
- Watch roving international street performers and shows.
There will also be lots to see and do over the weekend in Titanic Quarter with live music, authentic nautical cuisine and family fun. You’ll also be able to experience a bumper-packed programme of free activities along the Maritime Mile.
When: 25th – 27th May, 2019
A weekend of fun and free events is just on the horizon as SeaFest 2019 takes place in Cork from 7 – 9 June.
Cork Harbour will be transformed into an ‘open air sea world’ and will be ‘awash with free family-friendly activities, entertainment and attractions both on and off the water’ for the three-day festival.
The three-day festival will cover all things marine – from seafood cookery to science, exploring the ships that transport us to discovering the creatures of the deep.
The free festival also hosts exhibits and talks on marine life and fun educational activities that bring children on a journey of discovery when it comes to the mysteries of the ocean. Foodies can get tips from seafood cookery experts and sample some tasty bites.
When: June 7th to 9th 2019
Dublin Kite Festival
Enjoy a fun filled day at North Bull Island, Clontarf on June 9th, when kites of all shapes and sizes take to the skies above the surf. There will be family friendly entertainment all day long for all ages to enjoy and plenty of kite experts to give tips and advice on kite flying.

Baltimore Pirate Festival, Cork
All pirates (past and present) are invited to celebrate and commemorate the demise of 108 settlers taken away as slaves by Algerian Pirates on 20 June 1631 at the Baltimore Pirate Festival this June. Highlights includes visits to the thirteenth century fully restored O’Driscoll Castle, pirate dress competition, pirate boat trips, a family treasure hunt, and pirate bouncy castles and games.

Wexford Maritime Festival, Wexford
At the Wexford Maritime Festival in June, you’ll find a celebration of Wexford’s rich maritime heritage, and can enjoy maritime activities, family fun, artisan food and music. Children can enjoy dance and musical activities, arts and crafts, science workshops, circus workshops and shows at the Children’s Village. Discover Wexford’s Viking past in the Viking tent where children can try their hand at brass rubbing and sword making.

Promenade Festival, Waterford
The Promenade Festival, Tramore is the biggest family fun festival in the South East with an airshow, international artists, street entertainers, live wrestling, puppet shows, and an artisan food & drink village.

Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta, Dublin
The 8th Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta to take place from Thursday 11th to Sunday 14th July 2019. A festival of fun, sun and sailing awaits those in attendance at the waterfront and Dun Laoghaire town, as the four local waterfront yacht clubs will come together for this sailing extravaganza; Dun Laoghaire Motor Yacht Club, National Yacht Club, Royal Irish Yacht Club and Royal St. George Yacht Club.
2,500 sailors and 500 boats across 34 classes will compete with Olympic, international and national talent, many of whom are champions, with yachts competing from Hong Kong, England, Scotland, Wales, Isle of Man, and all four provinces of Ireland.
On land, there will also be plenty of entertainment around the waterfront. So, whether you’re looking for a family day out or to simply savour the festival atmosphere, Dun Laoghaire will be the perfect location for you this July.

Féile Brian Ború, Clare
Féile Brian Ború celebrates the life and legacy of Brian Ború (founder of the O’Briens) – the most famous son of the historic twin towns of Killaloe and Ballina. Fun activities include historical guided tours on lake and land, fireworks display over the River Shannon, traditional street games, garden party, children’s art competition, street theatre and much more! There really is something for everyone in the family at this fun event.

Bray Air Display, Wicklow
Enjoy a spectacular air display over the water in Bray, Co Wicklow this July with flyovers, aerobatic performances, and gravity-defying manoeuvres alongside live music, markets with food and crafts for sale and a fun fair for all ages to enjoy.

Cape Clear Island International Storytelling Festival 2019, Cork
Running since 1994, the Cape Clear Island International Storytelling Festival takes place on Cape Clear island just off the coast of Baltimore in West Cork. Audiences can enjoy hearing tales, stories and music from international artists while relaxing and enjoying the dramatic scenery the island has to offer.
