So if you’re looking to avoid these names in favour of more unique ones, or indeed wondering if your child’s name is on the list, here are the most popular baby names of 2020 so far.

We love seeing which baby names are popular with new parents each year and this year’s BabyCenter list of top boy and girl names so far this year is now out. The names on the list are based on BabyCenter parents submitting the names they have chosen for their new baby.
For girls, Sophia jumps to number 1, while Riley and Aaliyah enter the top 10. Eliana, Scarlett and Abigail have entered the top 20 list for 2020.
For boys, Liam continues to hold the number 1 position, with Noah remaining in second place but Jackson has hopped into the top 10 and straight up to the #3 spot. Grayson and Caden have moved into the top 10 list, while James continues to be a popular choice for new boys staying in the top 20 list.
