Cookie told us “the Connacht Hotel have self catering family apartments which are very family friendly and you have the benefits of all the hotel has to offer including a great leisure centre and kids club”.
Apartments are one and two bedrooms. Each bedroom is en-suite with a power shower and bath. They have a fully equipped kitchen and the 2 bedroom apartments can sleep 5 adults or 2 adults and 4 children. The kids club and leisure centre is available to guests during school holidays and are fully compliant with current government safety guidelines.
For those wishing to stay in the hotel, check out the newly refurbished Bunk Bed Family Rooms with a double bed and triple bunks that sleep up to 3 children or the family suites with one and 2 bedrooms and a kitchenette.

I was lucky enough to stay at the self-catering resort houses at Mount Wolseley Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort in Carlow with my extended family. It was perfect as some of our party stayed in the main hotel and those of us with kids opted for the resort houses, offering a flexible accommodation solution for everyone.
The houses are close to the main entrance of the hotel and offer guests a perfect home from home experience. You can relax, unwind and enjoy the beautiful surroundings in one of the 16 elegant 4 bedroom self-catering resort houses, each of which can accommodate up to 7 people with a floor area of 1,650 square feet and all the comforts of home.
Resort house guests can enjoy complimentary use of the leisure facilities; a 20-meter swimming pool and a children’s pool. Children can enjoy the outdoor facilities – playground & zip wire. While small children can use the soft playroom and family den. Teenagers will be kept entertained in the Teen Zone which is fully equipped with games and a snooker table. The Gleneagle Hotel River Apartments, Killarney
Orla and her family stayed in the river apartments at the Gleneagle Hotel and told us “they slept 5 comfortably and they were able to use all the facilities at the hotel”.

Located in the centre of Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim, above the popular An Poitín Still, Ridgerock offers family friendly rates for 1 & 2 night stays mid-week, which are especially popular during the summer holidays and during mid-term breaks.
Ridegrock accommodation comprises of large family rooms, which are suitable for up to 6 people. Each room is en-suite with a flat screen TV, fridge and facilites for making tea/coffee and cereal and treats are provided for the kids.

Talbot Suites at Stonebridge, Wexford
Recommended by Mum Paula who visited recently and says they were brilliant., “great apartments, location & lots of parking too. Would highly recommend”.
The self catering Talbot Suites come with 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms. The apartments have a fully equipped kitchen, living area and utility room and are perfect for families of all ages.
Cots and high-chairs are available on request at time of booking but not always guaranteed. They do not provide camp beds but a number of the self catering apartments do have sofa beds which can accommodate a child aged U14.

Banna Beach Holiday Homes, Kerry
Siobhan says “these self catering holidays homes are great for young children but you will need a car especially if you are visiting out of season”.
Each self catering cottage is fully equipped for a family’s needs with underfloor heating in tiled areas, TV, DVD and Audio players, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (double en-suite & 2 twin rooms), fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave & washer/dryer. Maureen told us they have booked to stay here after they were recommended by a friend. The Jameson Court Apartments are set just a stones throw from the infamous Salthill Prom, Blackrock Diving Tower, Grattan & Ladies beaches, in the heart of Salthill village.
Families visiting Galway will be spoiled for choice when it comes to the activities on offer within walking distance of these self catering apartments and there is a bus route outside the front door for those who don’t want to walk or drive to the city centre.

Self Catering at The Great Southern Killarney
Gearoidin stayed at The Great Southern Killarney holiday homes and said “it was a good option and is located bedside the hotel for any extras you need”.

“Playground, tennis court, pool room and an on-site sauna and an indoor heated swimming pool for use of all guests make Quilty Cottages the perfect self catering option for families with 2 or more kids” says Dad Aidan.
