The Nameberry popularity list tallies the most-visited of their baby name pages since the beginning of 2018. Rather than tracking names given to babies last year, it registers which baby names are attracting the most interest from expectant parents right now — which may translate to popular usage over the coming years.
Atticus is the top boys’ name for the second year in a row and Olivia stays as Number 1 for the third consecutive year. Three new names have come into the top 10 lists: Finn, Genevieve and Rose.
Parents appear to be becoming more adventurous with their boy choices: in 2018 there were more boys’ names than girls’ entering the ranks of both the Top 100 and Top 1000 names.
And vintage revivals are popular for both genders, e.g. Otto and Amos for boys and Clementine and Cordelia for girls.
Some more unusual names appeared including Wren, Atlas, Ryker for boys, while Aurora and Lyra appeared for girls.
Fun fact: Four of the Top 10 girls’ names begin and end in the letter A!
