Data compiled by the Irish Passport Office has revealed the most popular baby names in Ireland for 2016. Jack and Emily were the most popular names – is your child’s name on the list?

Based on applications for infant passports, the Irish Passport Office has revealed the most popular boy and girl names in Ireland in 2016.
Traditional Irish names are a little out of favour for babies, with only 5 out of the top 20 boys names and 3 out of the top 20 girls names being Irish.
Emily continues to remain a firm Irish favourite, it was most popular name for girls in 2015 and 2014 also, followed by Sophie and Emma in #2 and #3 positions.
In 2015, the top 3 most popular boys names (in descending order) were Daniel, James and Jack. For 2016, they have moved around and Jack has now taken the #1 position.
