Data compiled by the Central Statistics Office has revealed the most popular baby names in Ireland for 2017. Yet again Emily and Jack were the most popular names – is your child’s name on the list?

Based on applications for infant passports, the Irish Passport Office has revealed the most popular boy and girl names in Ireland in 2017.
Traditional Irish names are a little out of favour for babies, with only 2 out of the top 10 boys names and none of the top 10 girls names being Irish.
Emily continues to remain a firm Irish favourite, it was most popular name for girls in 2016, 2015 and 2014 also, followed by Emma and Amelia in #2 and #3 positions. Chloe moves into the top 10.
In 2017, the top 3 most popular names remain Jack, James and Daniel, they haven’t shifted in popularity since 2016. Harry moves up into the top 10.
