Data compiled by the Central Statistics Office has revealed the most popular baby names in Ireland for 2019. Would you believe that, yet again, Jack and Emily were the most popular names! Find out what other ones made the most popular list:

Based on an analysis of the first names registered with the General Registration Office (GRO), the Central Statistics Office has revealed the most popular boy and girl names in Ireland in 2019.
Traditional Irish names are growing a bit more in popularity for boy babies, with 4 out of the top 10 boys names, but only 1 of the top 10 girls names is Irish.

The Most Popular Baby Names in Ireland 2019
The Top 5 Boys Names in Ireland in 2019
Jack has held the top spot since 2007, with the exception of 2016 when James was the most popular name. The top 3 most popular boys names were Jack, James and Noah, and the top 5 boys names stays the same since 2018.
Odhrán, Eli, Ruairí and Joey were new entrants into the top 100 for boys in 2019, while the boys’ names with most growth in popularity were Odhrán, with and without the síneadh fada, Eli, Kayden and Ruairí.
Some less popular names for boys included Dexter, Teidí, Saul and Ruán.

The Top 5 Girls Names in Ireland in 2019
Meanwhile, for baby girl’s names, Emily continues to remain a firm Irish favourite. It has been the most popular name for girls since 2011, followed by Grace and Fiadh at #2 and #3 positions respectively.
There were two new entrants to the top 100 for girls: Doireann and Méabh. Alexandra, Heidi and Hollie were the girls’ names growing most in popularity with Alexandra moving up 25 places and Heidi and Hollie both moving 20 places since 2018.
According to the CSO, Irish girls are given a wider variety of names than boys with 4,814 girls’ names registered compared to 3,725 boys’ names.
Some of the less popular girls’ names included Kyrah, Féile, Jorja and Constance.
