Ireland has seen it’s wettest (and coldest) summer in years. Entertaining the children in these conditions can be costly and challenging! So here are 10 Budget Busting Ideas to Entertain the Children on a Rainy Day.

#1. Museums or Art Galleries

Natural History MuseumMany museums and Art Galleries are free of charge to visit and often have free activity sheets for children and families. They frequently run workshops and classes for children that are low cost or free so check out your local museum website.

We love the activities at the four National Museums of Ireland sites.

#2. Library

libraryVisit the local library and check out some new authors you may not have read. See if they have a storytelling, music or arts and crafts session.

Most cinemas and theatres offer an early bird or kids session at a fraction of the full price cost. See if your local cinema or theatre has any deals.

Alternatively you could create your own home cinema with popcorn, tickets and comfortable seats. Or put on your own show for friends and family.

Children can go along and try it out for free. A full course is very in-expensive.
